UPDATES

Welcome to the third update in 2024 from the SEADS project, with a focus on normalizing good practices for crop-related livelihood responses in emergencies.

Our latest updates:

  • The Arabic, French and Spanish versions of the SEADS Handbook have now been translated and the online and interactive versions will be available in July, with the hard copy versions available from August.

  • Want to join an online launch event for a translated handbook and be the first to know when the online and hard copies of the handbook are available? Sign up and add your language preferences, here.

  • In March this year, FAO Ethiopia hosted the first pilot training of the SEADS Practitioner Course, with agriculture and humanitarian experts. Watch a short video to learn more.

  • A second pilot training of the Practitioner Course will be hosted by SEADS and Catholic Relief Services in Nepal on 25-27 June; invitations for participants to be sent shortly.

  • SEADS is broadening its reach and engagement with new organizations, IFPRI, and the World Vegetable Center, Save the Children, Global Communities & Concern Worldwide supporting the roll out. We wish you all a warm welcome!

  • We continue to track feedback from SEADS Handbook users. Use this link to login and leave your comments.

  • We also continue to review evidence on the livelihoods, food security, and nutritional impacts of crop-related assistance in disasters. Please send relevant evaluations, reviews, or research reports with the evidence highlighted to coordinator@seads-standards.org.

  • Do you have colleagues who would be interested in SEADS? Please do share this newsletter within your organization and with your networks and encourage people to sign up!

For further information about any SEADS activity during 2024, please contact Alistair Short at coordinator@seads-standards.org.
